Signs Your Electrical Wiring is Outdated

Outdated electrical wiring can pose serious safety hazards and inefficiencies. Here are some signs that your electrical wiring may be outdated and in need of inspection or upgrade:

  • Frequent Circuit Breaker Trips: Indicates wiring unable to handle modern load.
  • Flickering or Dimming Lights: Could signal loose connections or capacity issues.
  • Buzzing or Crackling Noises: Unusual sounds from outlets, switches, or fixtures.
  • Discoloration or Scorch Marks: Around outlets or switches, indicating overheating.
  • Warm or Hot Outlets: Sign of overloaded circuits or faulty wiring.
  • Burning Smell: Persistent smell near outlets or switches.
  • Aluminum Wiring: Common in homes from 1960s-1970s, poses fire risk.
  • Frequent Electrical Repairs: Sign of outdated or faulty wiring.
  • Age of the Property: Older properties likely have outdated wiring.

Old & Damaged Wiring

Homes that were built prior to current code compliance were outfitted with aluminum wiring and electrical panels that can’t keep up! The potential for fire is significant with an outdated system. McCormick Electrical Services, Inc. can update your system and get everything up to code for safety and to meet today’s increased electrical demands.

If wiring is damaged in any way, immediate attention is required. A homeowner should switch off the circuit and call an electrical professional to make any necessary repairs. Damaged wiring is not something that can wait.

About Central Detention Center

Central Detention Center (CDC) in San Bernardino, formerly known as Central Jail, is a key facility for those facing legal issues in San Bernardino County. Located at 630 E Rialto Ave, this facility is operated by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and serves as a primary jail for the East Valley area. After being closed due to budgetary issues in the 1990s, CDC reopened several years later to house federal inmates.

CDC houses individuals who have been arrested and are awaiting trial or sentencing, as well as those serving short sentences. CDC also serves as one of the U.S. Marshals Service’s main transportation hubs on the West Coast. With a capacity of over 800 inmates, including those facing both state and federal charges, and more than 20,000 inmates processed each year, the facility is one of the largest in the area.

Central Detention Center features various programs aimed at rehabilitation, including educational and vocational training opportunities. As part of this rehabilitative focus, inmates have the opportunity to earn their high school diplomas or attend substance abuse intervention programs. Ostensibly, the goal of such programs is to help inmates successfully reintegrate into society upon their release or upon the completion of their sentences.

Posting Bail in San Bernardino

Posting bail can be complex, but our experienced team can help simplify and speed up the process.

Here is a general overview of how to post bail in San Bernardino:

  • Arrest: A person is taken into custody by law enforcement and booked at the local jail, such as Central Detention Center.
  • Booking: After the arrest, the individual undergoes a booking process, which includes fingerprinting, photographing, and recording personal information.
  • Bail Hearing: At this hearing, a judge sets a bail amount based on many factors, like the nature of the crime and the flight risk. This typically occurs within 48 hours of the arrest.
  • Posting Bail: The defendant or a representative (like a family member or bail bondsman) can post bail. This can be done in several ways:
    • Cash Bail: This involves paying the full bail amount directly to the court.
    • Bail Bond: With a bond, you hire a bail bondsman to post bail on the defendant’s behalf for a fee (typically 10% of the total bail amount).
  • Release from Jail: Once bail is posted, the defendant is released from custody, pending their court appearance.
  • Court Appearances: The defendant must attend all scheduled court hearings. Failing to appear can result in the forfeiture of bail and additional legal consequences.
  • Bail Exoneration: If the defendant attends all court dates, bail is exonerated at the end of the case, and any cash bail paid will be returned, minus fees. However, the fee paid to a bail bondsman is non-refundable.

When someone is arrested, a judge sets a bail amount based on various factors, including the severity of the offense, the individual's criminal history, their flight risk, and more. Bail serves as a financial guarantee that the person will return for their court dates. If the defendant fails to appear, the bail amount is forfeited.
